THE BAND

The pop/dance-pop band THE ROOP was formed in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2014 by singer Vaidotas Valiukevičius, drummer Robertas Baranauskas, and guitarist Mantas Banišauskas. With diverse performing experiences, the group began writing music that reflected their tastes and beliefs, creating music videos with important messages for the world.

The band's name, THE ROOP, comes from an archaic English word "to roop", meaning "to cry out", "to shout out", or "to make a great noise". THE ROOP's work often addresses social topics through music, images, and other mediums.

The band became widely known after participating in the Lithuanian Eurovision National Selection in 2018 with the song "Yes, I Do". Their aesthetic, stylish, and emotional performance earned them #3 place in the competition.

In 2020, their song "On Fire", Lithuania's choice for the Eurovision Song Contest, gained a massive following worldwide. The videos for "On Fire" have amassed over 30 million views, with the number continually growing. Although the band couldn't participate in the main Eurovision event due to the pandemic, they unanimously won most of the alternative online Eurovision song contests and took first place in the alternative German Eurovision TV live show.

THE ROOP entered the National Eurovision Selection again in 2021 with "Discoteque", winning both the jury vote and the televote by a landslide. "Discoteque" became a public favorite, qualified from the Semi-Final, and finished #8 in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam.

DISCOGRAPHY

THE ROOP spent almost four years in the studio searching for the perfect sound, writing 50 songs before finally selecting 10 for their debut album "To Whom It May Concern", released in 2015. The album was given an extra touch by Australian mastering engineer Leon Zervos from Studios 301 in Sydney, who has worked with music legends like INXS, Aerosmith, Muse, and Coldplay.

Their second album, "Ghosts", was released in 2017. Some singles from this album became very popular, including the dreamy "Dream On", the open and intimate "Keista Draugystė", and "Hello", which is most famous for its bold video featuring real people and their life stories.

Their third record, the EP "Yes, I Do", was released in 2018. The EP, named after the song they wrote for the Eurovision Lithuania National Selection, consists of five solid tracks, including "Yes, I Do" and a duet featuring singer Migloko titled "UFO".

"Concrete Flower", released on May 11, 2022, includes the solemn "Let's Get Naked", as well as hits like "On Fire", "Discoteque", "Love Is All We Got", and several fresh, unheard songs.
