About the 8th song from our new album “Concrete Flower”. In the intro you can hear the waves recorded by Vaidotas in Fuerteventura. There’s an intriguing story behind this song.
While on the island, Vaidotas visited another city, known for its beautiful seaside. Strolling the streets in the heat called for a swim, so Vaidotas decided to go to the beach. Having forgotten his swimwear, Vaidotas went to a nearby nudist beach.
In there he spotted a girl who was smiling and playing with the waves so sincerely, without any shame of her nudity, without glancing at others, simply enjoying the sun and the water. It was like an overwhelming flash of freedom and openness, which people living more to the north, like Vaidotas, are still trying to learn.
Suddenly the girl approached him and asked for a lighter. Unfortunately, Vaidotas didn’t have one. The girl ran to other nudists and asked them the same.
Later, when leaving the beach, Vaidotas asked the girl why she would address him in English right away rather than Spanish, maybe he was Spanish? She answered with a smile “You look different”. Wishing each other a good day, they separated. Their paths never crossed again. On that evening Vaidotas wrote a song.
This song is not about love or romance. It is about a distant island, finding happiness in everyday life, the sense of freedom, and a force in each one of us capable of inspiring others. Without even knowing. We can all inspire each other.
